15-pound baby born in England

A British couple gave birth to a baby weighing more than 15 pounds.

Weighing in at a startling 15lbs 7oz -- twice the size of an average 

newborn -- George King is one of the largest babies ever born in England.

"Everyone was just so shocked," George's mother, Jade Packer, 21, told BBC News, of the surprising birth six weeks ago.

"When his head was out that's when they realized he was so big," Packer said. "When his shoulders got stuck, that when everything kicked off. There was about 20 odd doctors in the room. That's when it got really scary."

Doctors gave George a 10 percent chance of survival and transferred him to another hospital for observation. But six weeks later, George is home with his parents, who have had to pack up most of the tiny baby clothes they had originally purchased.
